Design | Chaise Comfort

A chaise couch has always been a topic of conversation for my boyfriend and I. When we talk about what we want our living room to look like in the future I always argue that I want it to be stylish and welcoming. He always argues that he wants it to be comfortable and a place where people can gather to watch football or relax to watch a movie. With all of that in mind we always agree that no matter what a chaise couch is a MUST for our future home. 

I can see the merit in owning a chaise couch and I did say that the room was all about comfort BUT I can't help praising chaise as a separate piece. It has a way of marrying perfectly with a sofa and making the room feel open and inviting!

So which do you prefer? The classic "L" shaped chaise couch or the chaise couch combination?!

Design | Mantle Mentality

To me figuring out how to decorate your mantle is one of the most mind boggling things! There's so many things that you can do with the space, but you don't want to over do it. If you're anything like me you get bored of your mantle and feel the need to change it often! 

I haven't been able to go as out of the box as some of these fabulous mantle's but they definitely get my wheels turning! 

A mirror is one of my favorite go to's for the mantle; it keeps everything crisp, clean and streamlined. A nice pop of color or a large painting always does the trick as well!  

Thursday Thinkings...

It's finally Thursday and since I have off tomorrow it's technically my Friday! Now I just have to make it until 5 o'clock...

Design | Crazy about Coral

Let me just start by saying that I have been thinking today was Thursday ALL day today, needless to say when I found out it was only Wednesday I was a little heart broken... oh well, here's a happy hump day! :)

Ok back to the topic on hand! Have you ever noticed how a simple piece of coral can really make a statement in any room?? Whether it be intermixed in a bowl full of sea shells or set in front of a colorful background there's just something so chic about the display of coral. 

What are your thoughts?

There's something beautiful about Rita Konig's Manhattan apartment. It's the perfect balance of modern and feminine all the while keeping clean and crisp lines. It looks so inviting that I feel like I can walk right in and be completely at home! 

What do you think?

I love all of the fresh flowers in her apartment!! If I had the ability to keep plants alive my house would have flowers in every room!!

Design | The Bar Cart

Good Afternoon Friends!! I hope you had an amazing weekend! 

Today I want to talk about something very important....the bar cart of course! You can't have a house without some type of bar, where would the fun be in entertaining without one?! I have seen bar carts popping up all over the place in the past two years and I am obsessed with them. What better way to display your favorite beverages or be able to serve your guests their favorite drinks in a moments notice!

I love how they're so simple yet can be dressed up with a lamp, flowers, magazines, etc.

What are your thoughts on bar carts? Love them or hate them?!

Thursday Thinkings

I'm going to take a moment here to just ramble about life, it has been almost 3 months since I've seen my boyfriend. When people tell you long distance relationships aren't that bad they clearly have never been in one! There are ups and down's and sometimes you kind of feel like an emotional lunatic because you could be happy and smiley one second and crying for no apparent reason the next. This leads me to the "pondering's" I've posted below, I think they're a good illustration of how my emotions run from day to day :)

In the morning you start with the thought process above...

Then of course since I'm a girl and lets face it we make stuff up in our heads and can get a little emotionally unstable from time to time (we all know thats true! Don't deny it!) My thought process goes to something like this....

Oh Woe is me right? Ps. it would be Nicholas Sparks to say something like this... 

But by the end of the day I look around and think life isn't all that bad, I have a lot of things to be happy about! So it goes to this...

Design | Beach House Beauty

When I came across this re-designed beach house in House Beautiful I instantly began dreaming about long days on the beach. As I've said many times before I am not a huge nautical fan when it comes to decorating but it is used so subtly in this house that you can't help but to fall in love. 

I can totally picture myself at their outdoor bar enjoying the sunshine and a glass of vino :)

Design | OCD Meets My Favorite Place in the House

First and foremost, my heart goes out to the victims and volunteers at yesterday's Boston Marathon.

Two days in a row of posting!! After my many month hiatus this is quiet the accomplishment! 

Alright again enough of my ranting... I am a self proclaimed OCD neat freak, my roommates make fun of me because I will go around straightening the remote controls, lamp shades, etc. God help my boyfriend when we finally move in together, I don't think he knows what he's getting himself into! :)

You're probably wondering why I'm rambling about how OCD I am, well my fellow readers I have stumbled upon the perfect marriage of OCD/organization and a kitchen I have ever seen. I love how neat and clean cut everything looks. There seems to be the perfect place for every item, event the spices! 

No clutter in this kitchen! 

I am in LOVE with this cabinet!!

I love how you can find everything so easily yet it's all done so neatly!
