Currently Coveting Stylish Stripes

The weather here in Wilmington never seems to be able to make up it's mind! There will be a slight nip in the area first thing in the morning but by 3:00 pm the temperate is back up to seventy-five! Here's a look at what I'm currently coveting to make my transition from chilly in the AM to warm in the PM a little easier!

I am slightly more then obsessed with these booties!!!

Design | Beds In Front of Windows

I've always been against bed's in front of windows, I mean how insane does that sound?! I don't even think I've ever entertained the idea simply because it would take away from all the amazing natural light!
However, if putting your bed in front of a window can free up much needed space or can be done in a tasteful manner....why not??
Let's take a look at some amazing bedrooms where beds in front of the windows totally works.

X-Base furnishings have been around for centuries and I think it still works beautifully in today's decors.
See below for some of my favorite X-base furnishings...

Fall Time is the Best Time

Saturday marks the official start of fall and I wanted to share a few things I wanted to accomplish before the end of the year rolls around:

Exercise Everday
Call friends and family who I haven't spoken to in awhile
Host a dinner party/girls night
Don't fall asleep to the TV, instead read a good book (I'm super guilty of this!)
Make the most of each day
Say please and thank you more, just because
Cook some yummy NEW fall recipes
Light a candle no matter what time of the day it is
Make some homemade apple cider
Visit a lighthouse – maybe when I'm visiting the boyfriend. It’s something I’ve never done and sounds fun and romantic
Don't stress about the little things

Fall is my favorite season of the year, I don't know if it's all of the home cooked comfort food, the cozy sweaters, or all of the pumpkin smells!
The days are getting shorter, and now more than ever I feel like I need to cram anything and everything into the twelve short hours of light that we have available.
What are some of the things you're looking forward to this fall?

Currently Coveting Fall Fashions

I can almost feel the air getting crisp in Wilmington!  With that being said we are only a hop skip and a jump away from college football tailgates, cozy sweaters, pumpkin spice latte's, boots and flushed cheeks. Very soon it will be time to tuck away the sundresses and sandals, and bring out the fall must haves for the season. I am so ready. Check out what I currently wish was in my closet for the season.

For The Week

"This is your life.  Do what you love, and do it often.  If you don't like something, change it.
If you don't like your job, quit.  If you don't have enough time, stop watching TV.  If you are looking for the love of your life, stop; they will be waiting for you when you start doing things you love.  Stop over analyzing, all emotions are beautiful.  Life is simple.  When you eat, appreciate every last bite.  Open your mind, arms, and heart to new things and people, we are united in our differences.  Ask the next person you see what their passion is, and share your inspiring dream with them.  Travel often; getting lost will help you find yourself.  Some opportunities only come once, seize them.  Life is about the people you meet, and the things you create with them so go out and start creating.  Life is short.  Live your dream and wear your passion."  -The Holstee Manifesto

Love this quote- it fits where I am in my life right now- great quote to keep in mind for the week!

Design | Lantern Love

Lanterns used as indoor light fixtures have been popping up everywhere and I have to admit I kind of love them! They are a versatile take on lighting and when painted a bold color they can add pop to any room!
What's your take on this new trend? Love it or hate it?

Design | Krazy Kitchens Part 2

Aside from my obvious obsession with white which I bring up ad nauseum, I also harbor an obsession for kitchens. I love finding, pinning and clipping pictures to set aside for my future kitchen!
Here is a little kitchen inspiration for your Monday...

Dish | Chocolate Bread Pudding with Bourbon Sauce

My parents were in town this past week and my dad the culinary expertise that he is brought a wide array of cook books for me to peruse through... When looking through his Cajun cookbook I stumbled upon this recipe and just knew I had to try it out! Bread pudding has to be one of the best feel good, home cooked desserts out there and this one did not disappoint!!

Ingredients
(2) Quarts dried bread crumbs in 1-inch pieces (the cookbook did mention that ciabatta or croissant bread would work too!)
(4) Ounces white chocolate, coarsely chopped
(4) Ounces dark chocolate, coarsely chopped
(3) Large eggs
(1) Quart half and half
(1/4) Cup sugar
(2) Teaspoons ground cinnamon
(1) Tablespoon vanilla extract
(1/4) Cup butter, melted
Bourbon sauce (recipe to follow)

Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Grease 9 x13 baking pan. Spread the bread in the baking pan and sprinkle the white and dark coarsely chopped chocolate over the bread.
Whisk the eggs, half and half, sugar, cinnamon, vanilla, and melted butter together in one large bowl and pour over bread. The mixture should cover and soak the bread, submerging the bread slightly when pressed with a spatula.
Bake uncovered, for about 30 minutes, until the bread pudding jiggles like a bowl of jellow. If only the middle jiggles, then it needs more time- if the whole thing jiggles as one piece then it is done!
All the bread pudding to cool slightly.

Bourbon Sauce
(1/4) Cup sugar
(2) Egg yolks
(1/4) Cup sugar
(4) Tablespoons bourbon

Directions
Heat the sugar and butter in a small saucepan over low heat, stirring until the butter and sugar are completely dissolved. Place the egg yolks in a metal mixing bowl and slowly pour the warm butter mixture into the bowl, whisking constantly. Finish the sauce with bourbon, adding as much as you prefer based on how strong you like it.
Pour over bread pudding, top with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and devour!!

Currently Coveting Kitchens Without Upper Cabinets

Do you snip and pin photos of your favorite kitchens for future inspiration? I do too, and one of the trends I started noticing of the majority of the pictures I hoard away is the kitchen's do not have upper cabinets! I know, I know y'all are probably thinking that I'm insane or where would I store all of my messy kitchen gadgets and spices that I don't want people to see?! Many of the kitchens pictured have the luxury of separate pantry space and miles of lower drawers to hide your tools, pans, ingredients and dishes.
Here are some examples of kitchens without upper cabinets; to me the space feels much more open, and it leaves the wall space free for artwork or more importantly windows!
