Design | Back Yard Ponderings

One of the main reasons we picked the house we bought is because of the size of the back yard! We could instantly picture nights around the fire pit or grilling, gardening or playing with the future puppy. With that being said it will take us a VERY LONG time until we get to the satisfaction level for the back yard that we are both envisioning.... I'm talking a lot of pruning, mowing, pulling, etc needs to happen before anything else! 

Now we all know interiors are crucial for a house, however, I can't help thinking that the landscaping of your house is just as crucial! Some of the pictures below are just dreams of what my back yard might look like one day....some are fantasies that might never happen, but it's always fun to dream right?!?!

Design | South Hampton Retreat

This South Hampton summer home was simply too fabulous to not share with you!!! Designed by the amazing interior design firm HB Home this home is nothing less then perfectly chic. The soft, coastal colors combined with modern and sleek furniture create the perfect contrast. Grey (yes my favorite!!! ) with a hint of shimmer is a favorite neutral that is seen throughout the home. However, out of all of the spaces shown I think my absolute favorite is this outdoor living space! It's large enough for friends, comfortable enough to lounge with a good book and the fireplace makes it the perfect transition to those cooler months.

Design | The elusive ghost chair

When I was in college I wrote my senior year paper on Philippe Starck and to say a love was born is an understatement....more along the lines of obsession! Ever since I first started my research I instantly fell in love with his Louis Ghost Chair, I mean whats not to love?!?! Only Philippe Starck could take something worthy of a king and change it into the modern masterpiece that it is!! 

I have pinned multiple pictures of home offices with this chair, dining room tables set with it, I've loaded it into my shopping card multiple times simply to empty it moments later, I've googled it a million times trying to find a deal but I have yet to pull the trigger. 

I mean seriously you cannot look at this chair and tell me you don't love it!!

Design | Surf Style at Home

Seeing as I live in an area COMPLETELY surrounded by water I figured writing about a surf style home could not go forgotten! 

I love seeing surf boards used as artwork in homes, I think it adds a nice touch of masculinity while not being as obnoxious as over sized stuffed leather chairs, deer heads or sports posters typical of most men. 

What do you think? Do you love it or is it still too much?

Design | One Hundred Shades of Grey

I love grey! I know that's weird to say because so many people associate the color with rain or something slightly depressing, however, in a room I cannot get enough grey. We all know I have a love for neutral color palates but something about grey screams the perfect base to build a room off of. 

We've been having an on going battle with the color grey every since we decided to paint one of the rooms in the house a light grey. We quickly learned that the paint sample might be a light grey but that doesn't mean it will dry a light grey....generally it dries about three shades darker. I have been googling the best grey colors for days!! Is it really so hard to ask for the perfect grey color?!?!

Happy Thursday!! Or little Friday, or Thirsty Thursday...which ever you prefer really, either way we are one day away from Friday! In honor of that here are some aesthetically pleasing room designs to get you through your day. I cannot stress enough how much I love, love, LOVE the crisp and clean lines of white and grey rooms. The pops of colors are everything and they allow you change things out easily when you get bored and want to give your house a facelift...if you're like me that happens every 6 months. Guess the BF should consider himself lucky I've stuck with him for 5 years!!

Design | Eucalyptus Avenue

When I stumbled upon Evers + Anderson Interior Design I was instantly intrigued. Their portfolio boasted a lot of clean cut designs with splashes or bold prints and colors which I am ALL about. I instantly fell in love with their Eucalyptus Avenue project which is shown below. 

Each room has it's own unique self, the patterns instantly draw your eyes around the entire room in addition it's busy without being too busy. All in all I'm saying if I had the money I would 1) either move into this house instantly (although I'd have to find a job in CA....) or 2) I would completely redo my house to mirror some of the design elements they used. 

I can totally see myself binge watching Bravo in this room!!
